Computers have evolved from professional productivity machines to "universal media machines." As a result, humanistic approaches to computing need to supplement the rationalist/cognitivist tradition in early HCI. At the most general level, humanistic research into HCI and interaction design defines my work.
Specific areas of research include amateur multimedia, digital creativity, HCI aesthetics, and machinima, as summarized in my research statement.
