Strategic Plan Sets Ambitious Vision for School’s Future
Under the direction of dean Bobby Schnabel, the School of Informatics (SoI) undertook and completed a comprehensive strategic plan during the fall semester of 2007. Faculty-led committees examined the key topics of undergraduate education, graduate education, research, faculty development, and diversity. A committee including business leaders on the Dean’s Advisory Council developed a plan for economic development and entrepreneurship. The process included was a joint one involving the three units within SoI: the Bloomington Department of Computer Science, the Bloomington Department of Informatics, and IUPUI Informatics.
"I am very impressed by the engagement and creativity of our faculty, staff and advisory council in this process" said Dean Schnabel. "It was significant to have our three units working together and planning for the future. We are excited about the vision that this plan presents for the future based upon the unique breadth and strengths of the School, and the considerable work that already is underway as a result of it."
